How it Works

Every session starts long before anyone walks into a room.
The Conversation Before Everything

It usually begins with a call. You tell me what’s going on: what you’re seeing, what’s not changing, what you’ve already tried. I listen for what’s underneath it.

Sometimes the brief is clear. More often, we spend the first conversation figuring out what the real question is. That conversation is free. It’s also usually the most useful one.

The Design

Once we know what we’re working on, I design the experience around it.

That means choosing the right game or combination of games, shaping the arc of the session, and building a debrief that connects what happens in the room to what needs to change at work.

Nothing is pulled off a shelf. The game might be one I’ve run a hundred times, but the way it’s framed, sequenced, and debriefed is specific to your people and your context.

The Session

On the day, people play.

They strategise, compete, collaborate, make decisions under pressure, and occasionally surprise themselves. The facilitator’s job in this part is to create the conditions and then get out of the way.

Sessions run anywhere from a half day to three days, depending on the depth of work. In-person, outdoor, or virtual –  the format follows the need.

The Debrief

This is where the session actually happens.

The game created the data. The debrief is where we make sense of it together. What did people notice? What patterns showed up? What does this mean for how we work on Monday?

I design every debrief as carefully as the game itself. The questions, the sequence, the pauses, all of it is intentional.

After the Room

The session ending isn’t the work ending.

Depending on what we’ve agreed, this might look like a debrief document, follow-through nudges, a second session, or a longer learning journey.
